On Assad Regime Use of Chemical Weapons
Assad Regime use of Chemical Weapons on 21/08/2013
Another massacre on Syria’s soil, the regime has used chemical weapons in an attack on Damascus’ suburbs and villages, resulting in hundreds, if not over a thousand, of dead civilians, including many women and children.
These were the same chemical weapons that the international community had once deemed a “red line that shall not be crossed”, and these are the same weapons that were actually used by the regime against the Syrian people before, as proved by the UK and USA experts.
This time it was different: less than 10 kilometres away, an international investigation committee is sitting in a Damascus 5 stars hotel, with a mission to investigate the use of chemical weapons. Yet, this committee is sitting there not going to the scene of the crime and doing the job it was sent to do.
If the UN, the US, the EU, and the Security Council don’t use their power to facilitate this mission and force the regime to allow this committee to visit the scene of the incident, they shall be all partners in this crime, and responsible for the blood of the children of Syria.
This is a call to the United Nations to fulfil its role as a humanitarian international organization and put a stop to this massacre that is nothing but a disgrace to us as humans. History does not forget.
