Saint Mary Church of the Holy Belt is an old Syriac Orthodox Church in Homs, Syria.

The church is built over an underground church dating back to 50 AD.

It is the seat of the Syriac Orthodox archbishopric. According to local tradition, the church contains the belt of Mary mother of Jesus.

On 01 June 2012, the church was shelled and demolished at the hands of the Barbaric Assad’s Regime and its Thugs.

Al-Assad’s war against Syria has not only taken its toll on people’s lives, but also on its national and religious heritage. This photo, which was taken in Homs on the 6th of June, shows a wrecked placard of the directory of Antiquities that refers to an old house, a shrine of an Ayubid King, and a historical church
