The Importance of being Earnest
This article is not about a man named Earnest, but is about being earnest.
The-Syrian is an open blog that was established in early April 2011 to allow Syrians all over the world to express their opinions and views on Syria, especially during these critical times.
The name “Al-Mondassa” in Arabic was chosen, and it was intentional. Al-Mondas in Arabic means “the intruder” or “the infiltrator”. Why Al-Mondass(a)? Because this is what the revolutionists were called by Syrian regime in the beginning of the uprising, amongst many other names that came up later. To the Syrian regime, the revolutionists where a bunch of people with foreign funds and agendas targeting the safety and wellbeing of Syria. By understanding the Syrian regime and its own agendas, it is comprehended that when the regime talks about Syria, it talks about his holiness, president Bashar, and his mafia of a family.
Entering our fourth month in our project, and with over 1500 published article discussing all sorts of aspects of Syrian life in light of the revolution, we felt obliged to establish another division that provides Syrians the opportunity to spread the word and tell the world what they think about the social and political life in Syria, and so that those who don’t speak Arabic can have chance to see what free Syrians are all about.
Our goal is simple: Free Syria. Free of everything the Baath regime has imposed on us, from rotten political ideologies, to poverty, and to social injustice.
Earnestly, “The Syrian” will be a platform for everyone to express their opinions and give their insights about Syria’s future. It will be the platform of where we will tell the world that we, Syrians, are free.
